The Amalfi Mule

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Vodka Limoncello Drinks

The Amalfi Mule. You still get to whip out your hammered copper mugs (woohoo!) but this drink is 93% less likely to subvert your presidential elections. It IS still best consumed while shirtless and on horseback, so don't go messing around too much with the original.

Amalfi Mule - A Limoncello Twist on a Moscow Mule

Having too many of these WILL affect your desire and ability to make it to the polls in November, so keep that in mind.

Sour Strawberry Limoncello Cocktail

In my back yard, I have a rhubarb plant that is originally from our family farm in northern Minnesota. It's over 90 years old and I just transplanted it a few years ago. I wasn't sure it would make it but it just loves the new location. Getting as far south as Massachusetts probably seems like retiring to Florida for this plant, and at that age you deserve it.

Anyway, it produces a lot of rhubarb each year so I'm always looking for new ways to use it. There's rhubarb pie and rhubarb cobbler...but that's really it. Rhubarb is similar to cranberries in that it's really too sour for human consumption until you add a bunch of sugar to it. And, in this case, booze.

But the result is delicious! Faintly reminds me of those Sour Patch candies from my youth, but this is real food (generously defined). I can scarcely think of a better fate for an ancient stalk of rhubarb.

Roman Lemonade

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Vodka Limoncello Drinks

I've only been to Rome once, and it was during the winter. But if I ever visited in the summer...boy howdy...this would be the first thing I'd drink.

People love drinks where fluids of two different colors lazily mix in the glass, and that reminds me of Italy. There seemed to be a lot of people just sitting on benches and enjoying life.

In the US, I think a lot of people would stir this drink. Don't do that! It IS the most efficient way to evenly mix the drink, but you're missing all the art as that red liquid slowly unfolds--creating a show that has never been seen before and will never be seen again in exactly the same way.

It also creates a drink that has never been seen before. Don't believe me? Google it. This is an original baby.
