Party Thyme Cocktail

Gin Limoncello Drinks , Mixed Drinks with Limoncello

Out of all the drinks on this site, this one is the punniest, so I apologize if that offends you. Of course if you're that easily offended, you won't be following my blog for long, so...

This cocktail makes use of the huge piles of herbs growing in my garden. Herbs are by far the easiest plant you can grow in a garden. So I grow huge piles of them and declare myself a master gardener (never you mind the wilted tomato plants and mold-covered squash leaves). Sort of like how I throw four ingredients together and declare myself a master liqueur maker--how you behave in one area of life is how you behave in all of them I guess.

Now, despite having the appearance of lemonade and the presence of healthy veggies in the garnish this is a strong drink. That's where the "party" comes in. So don't have too many or you'll end up prancing through your garden wearing nothing but your party hat. Just...trust me on that one...

The Downton Abbey

Gin Limoncello Drinks , Mixed Drinks with Blood Orange Liqueur , Mixed Drinks with Creme de Limoncello , Mixed Drinks with Limoncello

Being a guy, I've never actually seen a whole episode of Downton Abbey. I've only walked through the living room on the way to the bathroom while it was on the TV. But in general, "actually knowing stuff" before you speak your mind isn't as popular as it used to be, so I went ahead and named this drink after the show.

That decision was based on the presence of gin in the ingredients and the way the image below came out. With the fancy tablecloth, indiscernable-but-upscale-looking bottle in the background, and of course the mini-goblet--the whole thing just smacks of aristocracy.

This cocktail also contains Crema di Limoncello, or as we Yanks call it, Limoncello Cream. If you haven't yet used it, you'll find that it also somehow seems more refined than regular limoncello. Don't ask me how the addition of cow drippings achieves that feat, I can't explain it.

Here's a fun drinking game for Downton Abbey (and possibly the ONLY one in existence). Down one of these every time you hear the word "squiffy."

Nantucket Sangria

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Wine Limoncello Drinks

I dare you--DARE YOU I say!--to find a drink as light, refreshing and downright summer-y as this one. Can't be done. I mean, I don't throw this term around lightly, but it's damn near whimsical.

And don't even get me started on how much vitamin C is in this drink.

Nantucket is a charming little island full of rich folks who wear faded red pants and (at least in my imagination) sip drinks like this all summer. So I figured that's an excellent name for this concoction.

The Positano Pre-Gamer

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Wine Limoncello Drinks

This is the drink that residents of Positano drink in preparation for a night of serious partying--in my imagination. In reality it's a recycling program for rosé wine.

You know rosé, it's the wine people drink if they don't like alcohol. It's also the wine those people bring to dinner parties, so everyone has one or two bottles stowed away in the back of the cupboard. Here's a chance to get rid of it!

The Positano Pre-Gamer - A rosé sangria from LimoncelloQuest

Through the strategic addition of Limoncello, strawberries and other things that actually taste good, we can recycle rosé wine into something amazing!

You get an impossibly refreshing summer drink AND you reclaim precious space in your cabinet that you can now use for expired goji berries, spirulina powder and other stuff you think you should eat but never will. You're welcome!
