Limoncello Manhattan

Bourbon Limoncello Drinks , Mixed Drinks with Limoncello

You never feel more like an old-school Hollywood actor than when you're drinking a Manhattan. I hemmed and hawed about changing the name of this drink, but I decided it's too classic. You need to know what you're getting.

What you're getting is all the classic balance of the alcohol punch against a bit of sweetness. You're also gaining the lighter and hazier appearance of the limoncello, making for a distinctive twist on the standard Manhattan.

Because the Manhattan is one of my favorite drinks, I'm picky about the ingredients. I like Bulleit bourbon, though I don't think that matters a great deal. What DOES matter is the sweet vermouth, it has to be Antica Formula--nothing else will do.

The cherry also matters. It can't be one of those overly al dente, radioactive red maraschinos that you get on top of a sundae. As usual, I recommend going full Italian and only accepting a Luxardo cherry. Add some high-quality limoncello and you get a Manhattan from Little Italy (the name I had to mightily resist giving the drink...)

Chilly Berry Margarita

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Tequila Limoncello Drinks

Nothing beats the summer heat like this Chilly Berry Margarita. I once had one in Florida at an early dinner (~3:15pm) and received a brief respite from the sensation that I was being deep fried by the Florida sun. Florida isn't for Scandinavians, just sayin'...

Now this recipe makes two drinks, so don't be a stingy lush like me and try to keep them both because they melt. Also, strawberries contain a lot of pesticides so be sure to buy organic if you're feeling ridiculous.

The Ariana Grande

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Tequila Limoncello Drinks

Behold, the Ariana Grande...so named because you think it's Mexican but really it's 100% Italian. Actually, it's a mix of both but I'm keeping the name 'cuz it's funny.

Since Mexico stole (and bedazzled) the Italian flag, we're going to return the favor by borrowing a few ingredients from south of the border. Normally I love jalapeƱos and cilantro like the President loves Puerto Rico, but in this drink the flavors just meld together and work.

I love this photo because it appears to be poured down from heaven (just like Ariana). And if you look closely you can see that even the margarita glass is very excited about this drink.
