The Tommy Boy

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Gin Limoncello Drinks

This one was almost named "Fat Guy in a Little Coat" but I thought that name was too long. It is funnier though.

This is a recipe for a modified Tom Collins (a Limoncello Collins) that you can consume when you are fully prepared to do so. By which I mean, you have some Collins glasses. Don't try drinking this out of a coffee mug. That's a disgrace to all that is good and holy. If you can score some copper straws, you get extra points. Plastic straws are an abomination. They all end up in the ocean and fish really don't need straws.

This also turns a stodgy old drink into an ode to one of the all-time great comedic films. If you haven't seen Tommy Boy, there's a gaping hole in your cultural literacy that you need to plug ASAP with a visit to Netflix.

Limoncello Tom Collins

You'll laugh 'til you cry and learn many useful phrases. Probably the greatest of these is that any time someone physically hurts themselves, you'll know that the proper response is "That's gonna leave a mark."

Smooth Navel

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello

The surface of a lemon is smooth, if you're wondering where this name came from. Always unafraid to screw up improve upon a classic, I figured I could up the citrus ante here and walk away a winner.

And it's a good looking drink. The opacity of this drink echoes what a good limoncello looks like coming straight out of the freezer. It looks like something that permanent residents of Bermuda would drink for breakfast.

But is it delicious? Of course. It's got enough sugar in it to make J.J. Virgin weep softly, so yeah, it's tasty.

The Deleted Post

A couple years ago we visited Water Island, which is a small, sparsely inhabited chunk of land just off St. Thomas.
I was introduced to these by our good friend Captain Jeff of Dinghy's Beach Bar and Grill.

While we were there I had a number (we'll leave it at that) of drinks like this, so I re-created that magic for the site. As you can see from the glassware it's a dark, brooding magic straight from the tiki gods themselves.

Now, here's the thing about dark tiki magic mixed with pineapple juice. It goes down a little too easy and shenanigans tend to ensue.

I have HEARD it said that sometimes people post things to Facebook that they shouldn't when under the influence of dark tiki magic. And that, my friends, is how this drink got its name.

Bro-mo: A Manly Cosmo

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Vodka Limoncello Drinks

The problem with the Cosmo, in my estimation, is that it's association with Sex and the City marks it as a drink for women only. And that's a shame because I love a good martini.

So I set out to fix this injustice. This is definitely the wrong moment in history to take anything away from women, so I'll probably face some minor counter-protesting, but it must be done.

The concoction you see below is pure, unadulterated masculinity--poured into a martini glass. Behold:

Note the proper way to hold the glass. Casual, unafraid of touching the chilled portion of the glass and notice in particular that the pinky finger is NOT sticking out.

That liquid you see dropping into the glass in the second image? That's testosterone.

There you go lads, you've been liberated.
