The Queen’s Cocktail

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Gin Limoncello Drinks

How do you make a gin and tonic that's fit for a queen? You add a little nectar of the gods to it.

The Queen of England was crowned in 1953. Think about that. She's been the queen longer that most people you know have been alive.

And do you think she lived that long, and with such vigor, by drinking your average gin and tonic?

No, no, no.

I think if you asked her, she'd attribute her longevity to this cocktail right here:

If you don't believe me, just ask her.

No access to the queen for Q&A?

Oh well, guess you'll have to take my word for it.

Sex Under a Lemon Tree

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Vodka Limoncello Drinks

"Sounds uncomfortable" you say? Well, a beach is no better. Sand is not your friend.

Here we have a lemon infused revision of a classic bachelorette party drink. And part of what makes it so beautiful and tasty is the Chambord.

Chambord is the sexiest of all the liqueurs (next to limoncello of course). That bulbous bottle, the viscous consistency, how the mouth of the bottle is always a little sticky...heck, I don't need to go on and on...you get it.

Tuscan Sunrise

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Tequila Limoncello Drinks

You know how you make something better? You pour some limoncello in it!

The trick is knowing how much limoncello you should pour into it. The answer isn't always "a whole lot." That's a good guess, but doesn't usually work. I took the guesswork out of this one for you, converting a classic into the Tuscan Sunrise.

Limoncello Tequila Sunrise

As you may have noticed, I'm a big fan of drinks with layers of color. Does that make them more delicious. It sure does. You won't convince me otherwise. Try this one and you'll see that it's a solid "9" on the deliciousness scale.

Dancing in the Sheets

Mixed Drinks with Limoncello , Rum Limoncello Drinks

This goes WAY back! At the risk of dating myself something awful, I'll say that I remember when this song was popular. Though in my defense, it is one of the first songs I ever remember playing an abusive number of times.

The Footloose soundtrack was one of the first albums I ever owned and I played it until my Walkman finally ate the tape. (Millennials may have to decode that last sentence with some Google searching.)

True to form, this drink is a new twist on an old classic. And be prepared for a quick trip to the liquor store, because only Baby Boomers and earlier generations would have Cognac laying around the house. Even then, probably only blue bloods and Francophiles.

Talk about impressing your friends though! Whipping out a bottle of Cognac and knowing what to do with it?! Goddamn!

You'll be the talk of the evening. All because of this cocktail with an indecorous moniker. And Shalamar. We mustn't forget the debt we owe to Shalamar.
